Plot Summary

Henry Roth, a successful author of children's books, is forced to team with a new illustrator after his original partner dies. Antisocial and obsessive-compulsive, Henry is skeptical of the new pairing.

The illustrator, Lucy Reily, carries her own weight of troubles. Through their collaboration, Henry and Lucy learn to get along, and eventually help with each other's problems.

Critical Reception

Dedication received mixed reviews upon its release. It has a 41% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which states that the "lack of chemistry" between actors Mandy Moore and Billy Crudup made it "hard to maintain interest" in the film.¹

Some critics, like James Greenberg of The Hollywood Reporter praised Dedication, writing that Moore and Crudup "[made] such a nice couple and have real chemistry together."²
