Dalai Lama Hospitalized
In October of 2008, only two months after a trip to the hospital for abdominal pain, the Dalai Lama, the spiritual and political leader of Tibetan Buddhists, was again admitted to the hospital with the same complaint. The 73 year-old underwent a routine procedure to remove a gallstone, which was soon after deemed "successful."1

Exhaustion Diagnosis
On August 27, 2008, the Dalai Lama's office issued a statement explaining that the Dalai Lama had been diagnosed with exhaustion and would be canceling all scheduled engagements for the following three weeks.2
