DNC Roll Call
The regular proceedings of the Democratic National Convention roll call were altered at the request of former presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton. On August 27, 2008, at approximately 5:45 p.m. MST, when it became the New York State delegation's turn to announce its votes, Senator Clinton appeared on the floor and requested that the roll call be suspended—and that Barack Obama be nominated the Democratic presidential candidate by acclamation.1
