DMystro began his career in the 1980s, when he began recording at the age of fifteen for MTV Studios in Germany. In 1991, he co-founded DPE Records with Darryl Dash. It was at this time that he began his legendary songwriting career. DMystro has co-produced albums for Columbia Records and Ruff Records. He has produced several albums as well as music for various radio commercials.

In 2008, DMystro filed a lawsuit against Kanye West for copyright infringement for West's song "Good Life." He is seeking eighty five percent of all revenue generated by the song, which hit number one internationally.
