Cylons Battlestar Galactica

The Cylons of Battlestar Galactica, the re-imagined series, began as man-made machines built to serve and defend mankind. Tired of serving, the cylons revolted against their creators, and went to war against mankind. During the war the cylons experimented with ways to make themselves more like man, but kept their experiments silent.

For forty years after the end of the first Human-Cylon War, the cylons seemed to have disappeared, but all the while they were evolving and planning a way to exterminate their creators. Through experimentation they discovered a way to make themselves bio-mechanical beings who appear no different than humans. Infiltrated into the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, they began a plot to destroy mankind.

At present, there are three known cylon models: Centurions, Raiders, and Humanoid. Unable to reproduce amongst their own kind, a series of tests were performed to produce Human-Cylon Hybrids. They discovered that forced insemination would not work, and that in order for conception to occur, love had to be present between the parents. To date, only two Human-Cylon hybrids are known.
