Corn syrup is made from corn starch and composed mainly of glucose. Corn syrup comes in both light and dark. The term light corn syrup refers to the color, not the amount of calories. Light corn syrup is more sweet where dark corn syrup has a molasses flavor. Corn syrup is used in many recipes including candy, jams and jellies and pies, cakes and cookies. Corn syrup is also used to sweeten soda.
