Despite an early departure from the Big East Tournament the 20-12 Villanova Wildcats were able to nab an at-large bid for their solid play during the regular season. The 5th seed Clemson Tigers finished the post season strong to earn their at- large bid. They were able to knock off Duke in the semi finals of the ACC Tournament and lost a close game to North Carolina in the championship round.

Clemson Villanova Pre-Game Analysis

After their great effort in the ACC tournament, Clemson has the momentum advantage coming into this game. They proved they were able to play at the highest level against some of the nation's best teams. Villanova, on the other hand, was on the bubble after their last few games, and will need to refocus mentally if they hope to have any tournament success. With 3 seniors in their starting lineup, the Tigers will have experience on their side but have to cope with injuries to key players. Forward James Mays is finally back to 100% and guard Chris Hammonds will be playing with a cast on his non-shooting hand. On the other side of the ball, Villanova will need strong leadership from freshman point guard Scottie Reynolds. If he is able to get his team mates good shots from behind the arc, the Wildcats have a shot at an upset.
