In 2007, Adler and his band Whitestarr took part in the VH1 reality series The Rock Life. The show focused on the band recording an album while living in a multi-million dollar mansion in Malibu, California.

During the filming of the show, a nude photo of Adler was leaked onto the internet. According to Adler, the photo was stolen from a storage facility Paris Hilton had been renting. The controversy ended his relationship with Mischa Barton. Adler claimed the photo was taken in 2001 and he did not know how Hilton had possession of it.³
