Like several other specialty breeds, Chausie cats are intended to replicate the look of larger wild cats in a compact and tame package. Unlike the Bombay (sometimes called the Parlor Panther), the Chausie actually is partly wild, at least by lineage. The jungle cat from which it is bred can weigh over 35 lbs, and stalks smaller mammals across the Asian continent.¹ While Chausies themselves are said to be "fearless, but not aggressive,"² they can approach the larger size—and possess the cunning intelligence—of their forebears, traits that may not make for a low-maintenance pet.
