Charles Taylor
Charles Taylor is a former President of Liberia, who served from 1997, to 2003. He is currently on trial for an abundance of war crimes in The Hague.

Background
In 1989, Taylor was responsible for launching an uprising to overthrow Liberia's government. He was also a warlord during the First Liberian Civil War during the 1990s. On August 2, 1997, Taylor became the President of Liberia, beating out Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
War Crimes
On March 29, 2006, Taylor was arrested and charged with 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war in Sierra Leone. He plead not guilty. His trial began on June 4, 2007, in The Hague. On August 20, 2007, his trial was postponed until January 7, 2008.
