The Murder
Maria Frances Lauterbach, 20, was found burned and buried in a cavity of Laurean's backyard in January. Lauterbach was eight months pregnant, and according to news reports, Lauterbach had previously accused Laurean of raping her. She had filed rape charges with military authorities.3

Laurean went missing after Lauterbach's remains were discovered. His profile was featured on the TV show America's Most Wanted and on the FBI's website. Items belonging to Laurean were found all over North Carolina, and he was believed to be heading to Mexico, where he was later apprehended.1
