History
After the founding in 1979, the Golden Knights played in lower levels of the NCSS and joined Division 1-A in 1996. They spent the first few years as an independent, playing in the Mid-American Conference from 2002 to 2004, then settled in the Conference USA in 2005. The Golden Knights have appeared in two bowl games, the Hawaii Bowl in 2005 and the Liberty Bowl in 2007.1
