Originally titled Call of Duty 5, Call of Duty: World at War, is the fifth installment in the Call of Duty series. It was officially confirmed on December 2, 2007, for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, DS and PS2.

The first person shooter is expected to be released before the end of Activision's current fiscal year, which normally ends on March 31, 2009.¹

The game will be set in World War II with a major emphasis on the Pacific Theater, although it has been confirmed that there will be a section of the game that will have players fighting the remaining Nazi forces in Berlin. The announcement was made in conjunction with the bigger news of the impending Vivendi-Activision merger.²
