  • January 5, 2004: The marriage is annulled.
  • June 2004: The pop star performs her last real concert in Dublin, Ireland.
  • September 18, 2004: Spears and Federline are married.
  • February 2006: Photos taken by paparazzi show her driving with her son in her lap.
  • November 7, 2006: Spears files for divorce from Federline.
  • February 16, 2007: Checks into a drug rehabilitation facility in Antigua for less than 24 hours.
  • February 20, 2007: Britney checks herself back into a drug rehabilitation facility in Malibu, California.
  • March 20, 2007: Spears leaves the rehabilitation center.
  • May 2, 2007: Spears embarks on a bizarre 'comeback'. The The M+M's Tour lasted six nights. Each night Britney performed a 15 minute lip synched set of her biggest hits.
  • September 2007: She is court ordered to undergo random drug and alcohol testings conducted by the court, and also ordered to attend parenting counseling.
  • September 9, 2007: Spears gives her underwhelming "comeback" performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas.

  • October 1, 2007: Temporarily looses physical custody of her children to Federline.
  • October 3, 2007: Court rules that Federline will gain full custody of the children.

  • October 23, 2007: Former friends and associates of Britney start a boycott of her upcoming album. A MySpace page titled Be Proactive To Help attracts 860 friends in 24 hours.
  • October 24, 2007:Britney met with ex husband Kevin Federline for their first court ordered parenting class.
  • February 1, 2008: Britney's father, James Spears, is granted temporary conservatorship of her estate, gaining control of decision over her medical treatment and finances. They also obtain a restraining order against manager Sam Lutfi.
  • February 6, 2008: Spears is released from the hospital after a 7 day stay. The temporary conservatorship order is extended to her father.
  • February 14, 2008: A LA court extends the conservatorship of Britney Spears to her father and brother, Bryan Spears, until a March 10 hearing.
  • February 23, 2008: Britney is allow to visit her children for 3 hours, under the supervision of her parents and psychiatrist.
