The Tennessee-born brunette started her acting career with guest appearances on television shows such as What I Like About You and Two and a Half Men. In 2004, she made her motion picture debut in the Lindsay Lohan star vehicle, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, playing the role of Carla. She followed up that success with a recurring role on the television show, Hope & Faith, portraying Sydney Shanowski.

In 2007, she landed her breakthrough role in the Michael Bay action film Transformers as love interest Mikaela Banes. She is set to appear as the title character in writer Diablo Cody's upcoming thriller, Jennifer's Body, with Amanda Seyfried.

On April 23, 2008, Fox was ranked #1 on FHM Magazine's 100 Sexiest Women in the World list, via online poll.
