Guide Note:The employees at failed investment bank Bear Stearns are fearing for their job. After the New York-based institution was bought out by competitor JPMorgan for a firestorm sale price of $2 per share, some employees are skeptical about the potential longevity of their current jobs and have hired recruiters to seek out new positions. Bear Stearns had approximately 14,000 world-wide employees. It has been reported that roughly 1/3 of the employees own stock in the former investment bank, which lost nearly 95% in the sale. No official word has been released about the futures of these employees as of March 17, 2008.
