Barbra Streisand is an American singer and actress. She was born on April 24, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. Streisand's family was Jewish. Streisand graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1959. She never enrolled in college. Streisand married actor Elliott Gould in 1963. The couple had a son named Jason Gould before divorcing in 1971. On July 1, 1998, Streisand married again to actor James Brolin. Brolin has two children from previous relationships.

Career
Streisand began singing in nightclubs as a teenager. She made her first television appearance in 1961 on The Tonight Show. Streisand made her debut on Broadway with the production of the musical I Can Get It for You Wholesale. Later that year, she signed her first recording contract with Columbia Records. In 1963, Streisand's debut album, The Barbra Streisand Album won her two Grammy Awards. The actress returned to Broadway in 1964 in the production of Funny Girl. In 1968, she played in the remake film of Funny Girl and won an Academy Award. From there she played in the films Hello, Dolly!, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, and The Owl and the Pussycat. In 1972, she starred in What's Up, Doc?. Her more recent works include The Prince of Tides, The Mirror Has Two Faces and Meet the Fockers.
