Assassin's Creed 2 is the upcoming sequel to the 2007 Ubisoft release Assassin's Creed. Few details have been provided as to plot or gameplay in an effort to increase anticipation prior to its launch. The release date has been postponed until after the launch of the most recent incarnation of Prince of Persia for the same reason. In an interview with Forbes, Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America, confirmed that there would be no Assassin's Creed release this year: "When we bring it back, there will be more anticipation for it."¹

Since the series is based on historical events, the following have been extrapolated to fuel plot speculation:

1. Two Hashshashin (assassin sect with roots in the Shia Muslim tradition) stab Conrad of Montferrat in the streets of Tyre²
2. Altair met with Richard I of England, rumored to be behind Conrad's assassination, towards the end of Assassin's Creed. Shortly after the end of the Third Crusade, Richard dies of crossbow bolt wounds at the age of 41.³

1. Conrad's two assassins would provide background for some potentially interesting co-op play.
2. Rumored to use Janna as primary fighting style, e.g., grappling, low kicks.
