History
The Andalusian originated on the Iberian Peninsula in Spain. Up until the 18th century, the Andalusian was considered the "Royal Horse of Europe."2
Characteristics
The Andalusian is a strong, elegant horse that typically has a lean head, large eyes, a broad neck and sloping shoulders with a thick, flowing mane and tail. It is sensitive, intelligent and a quick learner. Approximately 80% of Andalusians are grey or white in color, 15% are bay and 5% are black.3
