The American Idol Songwriter contest gives contestants at home the chance to write a song for the finale of the show, have it performed by the winner, and ultimately released to the world. The season seven winner will be determined on May 20, 2008 on FOX

Winning Songs
The season six winner was "This Is My Now" written by Seattle, Washington residents Scott Krippayne and Jeff Peabody. The winner of the season, Jordin Sparks, sang her rendition of it at the finale and it was released on iTunes.
