Air Force Birthday
U.S. Air Force celebrates its birthday on September 18 since 1947, when it officially became a separate branch of the military. In 2008, Air Force will turn 61.1 Ceremonies will take place in military bases across the nation to commemorate the event. Bolling Air Force Base will host the Secretary of the Air Force, its chief of staff, the 11th Wing commander and other high ranking service men and women.2
