Absolut Vodka

The world's third largest distilled spirits brand, Absolut is a Swedish-based vodka company that exports over 70 million liters of alcohol per year to the United States.

Absolut was owned by the Swedish government until March 2008 when it sold to French beverage company Pernod Ricard.

Absolut Ads

Absolut has utilized the same distinctive advertising campaign for nearly three decades. The ads consist of a twist on the Absolut bottle shape. For example, a birds-eye photo of an island shaped like the Absolut bottle comes with the caption "Absolut Paradise."

This campaign was complemented in 2007 with the "In An Absolut World" slogan. The company caused controversy in 2008, when an advertisement run in Mexico showed the borders of the country extending to include California and much of the southwestern United States, with this slogan underneath.
