If the rumor of an $800 MacBook is true, Apple's stock margins may fall to around 30%, according to financial analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray. But, he adds, "investors would see the lack of redesigned, lower-priced Macs as a more significant negative than they would a 30 percent GM guide in the December quarter."⁴
