Tackling Family Values
7th Heaven features a family whose father is a Protestant minister, which allowed the show to feature a number of serious issues, such as pre-marital sex, alcoholism, and addiction. without resorting to any number of "very special" episodes. Toward the end of the series run, the tone of the show became more light and comedic.
