44 Pound Cat
A 44 lb. cat was found wandering the lawns of Voorhees, New Jersey, on July 26, 2008. Dubbed "Princess Chunk" by workers at the local animal shelter, the homeless pet is less than 3 lbs. short of the world record for heaviest domestic feline.1 If Princess Chunk is not reclaimed by her owner by Saturday, August 2, she will be available for adoption.1

Record Holder
The fattest cat on record was an Australian feline named Himmy, who was entered into the 1987 Guinness Book of World Records at 46 lbs., 15 1/4 oz. Himmy died of respiratory failure.5 Out of concern for the health of pets, Guinness no longer features the weight category for cats.5
